Formula for Fidelity: Oneiros Loudspeakers Channel Racing Excellence

At an exclusive event hosted by Manhattan Motorcars in New York City, I had the chance to speak with Walter Schofield, a consultant representing Oneiros loudspeakers. Surrounded by luxury automobiles, our conversation explored why these ultra-high-end speakers fit perfectly into a dealership known for its selection of rare, exclusive, and exotic vehicles.

According to Schofield, Oneiros Loudspeakers aren't merely inspired by Formula 1 technology—they incorporate it. Manufactured in England's "Motorsport Valley," a region famous for producing winning F1 cars, every aspect of these speakers reflects elite motorsport craftsmanship. Schofield told me, "The cabinets of the Oneiros Loudspeakers are constructed from the same carbon fiber material used for F1 auto parts, with a proprietary damping layer." Even their paintwork is completed in a facility trusted by top Formula 1 teams.

A key feature Schofield highlighted is the use of authentic graphene-infused drivers, which differ significantly from the more common graphene-coated components. He explained that this choice "enables cones to be considerably thinner," resulting in "better transient response and just better sound overall." The tweeters notably feature diaphragms crafted from lab-created diamonds.

Schofield emphasized that these speakers contain "no off-the-shelf parts," with customized construction developed alongside undisclosed—but leading—Formula 1 teams. Priced at $650,000/pair, these speakers are unmistakably designed for clients accustomed to the luxury and exclusivity offered by dealerships like Manhattan Motorcars.

Brian Miller, owner of Manhattan Motorcars, described the partnership as a natural fit, noting, "You see these beautiful pieces of art, hear the quality of the sound, and recognize the craftsmanship immediately."

Do they sound fast? (sorry, I couldn't resist) I was surprised no listening and comments about their sound was included, or is that to come at a later time?

Maybe Johnny Thunders got through?

... Manhattan Motocars can sell you a new Bentley for less than half the price of a pair of those speakers.

Lol! A car dealership isn't the ideal environment for auditioning high-end speakers. The main intent of this visit was to highlight the connection between automotive craftsmanship—especially F1—and these speakers. I did sit for a listen and to take the photo, but the main purpose of the visit was not evaluating the speakers.

Still, even in this setting (with a few absorption panels placed behind me), the system showed deep, precise imaging typical of time-aligned, well-tuned, full-range, high-end speakers.

Stereophile is doing advertorials now (this is the second for Oneiros Loudspeakers). Cool, good luck with that.
