T+A elektroakustik's New Pulsar S 130 Inherits Core Criterion Series Tech
German high-end audio manufacturer T+A elektroakustik has introduced its Pulsar S 130 loudspeaker, which the company says is part of an ongoing modernization of its speaker offerings. According to T+A, this model integrates technologies and design concepts from its higher-level Solitaire and Criterion series speakers, and is priced at $7490/pair. The company says it aims to bring these techniques into a price class that is more accessible than its flagship products.
According to T+A, the development of this product was not merely cosmetic; it is part of a larger plan to apply foundational technologies across its new speaker lines. The company says that the Pulsar S 130 shares core design principles with T+A’s more expensive Solitaire and Criterion models. Prominent among these shared technologies is the Symmetric Directivity Design, which T+A claims reduces detrimental reflections and tonal distortions. This approach is said to center on controlling how sound propagates from the drivers, focusing the energy where it matters and minimizing unwanted room interactions. The German Federal Government recognized this design approach in 2024, according to T+A, suggesting that it is of interest in Germany’s technological and engineering landscape.
T+A’s Solitaire and Criterion ranges are known for incorporating proprietary acoustical engineering methods that attempt to control dispersion and improve clarity. By filtering this technology down to the Pulsar S 130, T+A claims to be maintaining a consistent approach throughout its speaker lines.
The company also highlights its Cylinder Wave Technology, originally appearing in its top-tier speakers, as an innovation that has influenced the direction of its newer products. Although T+A does not specify whether this exact feature is present in the Pulsar S 130, it emphasizes that the design philosophy and engineering rigor underlying these recognized approaches guide the entire portfolio. T+A’s leadership suggests that the challenges and risks involved in introducing new speaker technologies are significant and that external recognition provides validation for these efforts.
For bass performance, T+A says the Pulsar S 130 uses an updated bass reflex system with a front-facing port. According to the company, this design efficiently directs the rearward energy of the drivers, aiming to produce a stable, controlled bass foundation. The company claims this approach results in low frequencies that better integrate with the rest of the speaker’s output.
Visually, T+A describes the Pulsar S 130 as reflecting a “Classical Modernity” aesthetic that it has introduced across its newer products. The company says the cabinet design, with a slightly inclined front baffle and drivers mounted without visible hardware, provides a more cohesive sound dispersion. Per the company, the speaker’s matte finishes and design elements are intended to complement a variety of interiors.
