Benny Audio's Tomasz Franielczyk and Supreme Acoustic Systems's Hiram Toro were on hand to present one of my favorite rooms of T.H.E. Show. SAS's room 219 was also no slouch.
The Benny Audio Odyssey turntable with its partnering tonearm ($45,340), mounted with a Hana Umami Red cartridge ($3950), all sat on an Esseci Design Equilibrium platform ($2955). An Air Tight ATH-2 Reference step-up transformer ($6975) raised the voltage and an Air Tight ATE-3011 phono amplifier $34,975) provided additional gain plus RIAA equalization.
An Audio Mirror WAVE tube DAC ($11,000) and Taiko Audio Olympus music server ($73,000) did what they do.
An Air Tight ATC-7 preamplifier ($34,975) and Air Tight ATM-3211 monoblocks ($99,975/pair) drove a stunning pair of Odeon Carnegie speakers ($117,460).
An AudioQuest Niagara 5000 power conditioner ($5900), HIFISTAY Mythology rack (3 levels) ($16,260), and Audience, AudioQuest, Cardas Cables, and AGS Room Tuning Devices provided support, connectivity, and fine-tuning.
I've covered many audio rooms for Stereophile. Every time. Every show. I do it because I love music and the way it makes me feel, the sense of beauty and release when a great system plays music seemingly just for you.
More than once, Supreme Acoustic Systems rooms have put me in the zone of sonic beauty, sonic awe, and bliss.
Alternately playing Paul Motian's "Folk Song for Rosie" (from Le Voyage) and Vivaldi's Four Seasons, everything that makes me fall into a hole of bliss and reverie was there. The stage was as wide as this large room would allow, the music flowed with a sense of ease, tonal splendor, lightning dynamics, and utter naturalism. That's horns and tubes and vinyl and talented designers.
That's all, folks. I leave you with this: "Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams."—Ashley Smith
