Manufacturer's Comment
Editor: I would like to thank Herb Reichert for his time, effort, and wonderful enthusiasm with regards to the BAT VK-56SE power amplifier, as well as to John Atkinson for his detailed and insightful measurements. The fact that this amplifier drove Herb' s loudspeakers in a way he preferred over both of his highly regarded in-house reference amplifiers speaks volumes about the VK-56SE's unique and uncanny sonic merits. This is an amplifier that truly brings you much closer to the music.
The BAT VK-56SE is the result of the evolution of medium-powered tube amplification, built around the unfathomable 6C33C tube. It all started back in 1995 with the VK-60 amplifier, a model that is today considered a genuine classic. As we celebrate our 25-year anniversary, there are some exciting things on the horizon that will benefit all BAT customers, past, present, and future . . . stay tuned for more news later this year.
Customers always have to keep in mind that certain amplifiers are not for every loudspeaker, as Herb discovered with the Maggie .7's. Always trust your ears when evaluating products by listening to your music and not your gear, to seek the truth about what works best.
BAT has had immense success with amplification in the "under five figures" price range for a long time, and we encourage people to read the https://balanced.com/sites/default/files/BAT_WhitePaper.pdf">technical white paper at our website for information that goes beyond the scope of Herb's review. Ultimately, less is more, and this is why BAT is one of a tiny handful of manufacturers that has managed to develop and produce highly regarded amplifiers and preamplifiers that are all tube, hybrid, and solid state, all having stood the test of time for well over 2 decades.
Thank you Herb, John, and Stereophile.—Lionel Goodfield, Public Relations and Marketing, MoFi Distribution
