Though I'm generally not a fan of electrostatic speakers—save the granddaddy Quad ESL-57s, that is—this Prodigio-led system at SouthWest Audio Fest 2026 hung up my hang-ups.
To ease my qualms, the Linear Tube Audio/Prodigio Audio system combo streamed Crosby, Stills & Nash's "Marrakesh Express" (originally from 1969's Crosby, Stills & Nash), Billie Eilish's "Birds of a Feather" (from 2024's Hit Me Hard and Soft), and the dulcet jazz noodling of the Isao Suzuki Trio all to my liking. My criticisms that modern electrostatics fail to sound natural or texturally alive soon melted away.
The Suzuki Trio and Eilish tracks imaged like mad, while the CSN cut—though slightly rolled off—sounded superbly natural, alive, and energetic, with all the beautiful flow of the girl from Ipanema sauntering along a sun-flecked Brazilian shore.
The LTA/PA system had epic scale, rendering melodic and instrumental lines with a graceful sense of beauty, separation, and refinement while revealing everything the accessed digital files had to offer.
A Top Five SWAF 2026 system, this is the one that made me forget the Dallas furnace outside and simply bathe in the room's cool-headed glow.
