S_A_T_U_R_D_A_Y Ni-Yite or whateverthehell it was from the Bay City Rollers. Howard Cosell may never escape purgatory for brining them to our attention.
This week: more likes and dislikes. Tell us the name of the worst pop song of all time.
Probably nobody remembers this, but when I was a kid there was a horrible song on the radio by some English group called "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose its Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight?" Even thinking about it now drives me crazy. Then there was "Ahab the Arab" by Ray Stevens. Another sonic torture was "Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer" from sometime in the 1960s. I can't recall the performer, and I don't want to.
Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks and that horrible "Pina Colada" tune by Rupert somebody (Holmes - JI). "Billy Don't Be a Hero" --- I forgot who the singer was (Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods - JI). These are just several examples of truly grotesque songs from the 70's. I grew up in that decade and I'm still trying to block it out of my mind.
In the past 2 and a half years, corporate radio has been bombarded with such a bevy of major label, bubble gum sludge, it is now impossible to pick a worst pop song... the ranks have gown exponentially since the release of the latest NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and Brittney Spears albums.
