I guess I'm getting jaded about this pursuit after almost 35 years. It used to be about achieving significant gains in music reproduction to facilitate one's enjoyment of the music and enrich one's physical and emotional well being and world view. Now, for me at least, the marginal utility curve has flattened so much that advances in audiophile technology aren't improving the reaching of this goal for me. New technological toys seem to be created for their own sake and because we can rather than making a significant contribution to music appreciation and enjoyment. Getting on an endless and accelerating upgrade path like the PC business is not attractive to me. I have a life!
