Home Theater in a Box?

WIRED offers their list of "Best Gadgets and Gizmos on the Planet" in their annual TEST issue, on stands now. But I didn't buy it. Instead, I swiped my girlfriend's copy. While she was mostly interested in reading more great things about her handy-dandy Motorola Q, I, of course, flipped right to the home audio section.

"Homework," I told her.

Five minutes in, I was pissed. A "headphones" section without the AKG K701s? Those things are radical. Where they at? A "receivers" section without the Outlaw RR2150? Come on. You'd think the $600 beauty would be right up WIRED's alley. But no.

And what's this "home theater in a box" thing all about?

For a different list of bests, keep an eye out for Stereophile's annual "Products of the Year" feature, coming your way soon.

Pissed? Please, give other rags for richees hacks the benefit of the true meaning of Christmas ... HTIAB is how big box halls make hundreds of times as much money as any decent audio shop. Good sound is fun, but, pretty much idiotic ;)

HTIB is a scourge on humanity! And one that represents a good market that the hi-fi industry should really be trying to take a slice of.
