Jack White's Triple Decker Record

When I initially read about the Triple Decker Record on Pitchfork.com, I thought to myself, “Maaaaan, that’s stupid.”

But, then, after I watched the video, and saw Jack White cutting open the 12” with a knife to extract the 7” single from its outer casing, I thought to myself, “Oh, damn, now I have to post another blog entry.”

The Dead Weather’s new single, “Blue Blood Blues,” will be released on September 17th, in three very different versions: a 7” backed with a live version of “Jawbreaker;” a 12” backed with a live version of “No Hassle Night”/“I Just Want to Make Love to You;” and the Triple Decker Record, assembled by United Record Pressing in Nashville, Tennessee. Ok, that really intrigues me. Sometimes, I am such a sucker for packaging! My Sennheiser headphones came in this amazing packaging. I still have all of it. Same with my Beatles Apple, I kept the packaging too. Both those purchases were great in terms of the item I bought, but sometimes, people get the packaging so right that it is almost not fair.Trey

Wait, so after you crack open the 12", you can't play it anymore, or can you?

Definitely one of Canada's greatest exports, along with Leonard Cohen, Holy Cole, The Guess Who, KD Lang, Joni Mitchell, Oscar Petersen, Dan Akroyd, John Candy, Jim Carey, Mike Myers...oops those last few are actors, got carried away...

Oops, this was meant to go under "It's an Angry World". Hate it when that happens!

I saw this video a couple of days ago and I will admit that while I like The Dead Weather the least of all Jack White bands I want this record. Mr. White is really doing some interesting stuff with his Third Man label. It would be very cool to read an interview with him in the pages of Stereophile. It could have fit nicely into Mr. Baird's excellent article/story "It's Still Alive!". Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Nice idea and great that J.W. is pushing the vinyl envelope.... I just wish it was someone else doing the pushing- I'm sick of Jack White's sound and his image.

What an asinine product, idea, and horrible music. Who actually pays for this crap? The band is horrible.

What's all this crap about Canada???? At some point some of Jack's relatives had lived in Canada. That doesn't make him Canadian.
