Friggin' dealers again

A friend of mine is looking for a preamp, so I went to a dealer with him today. He heard some stuff that ultimately left him more confused than when he first started. Alas, that's not the point of my story.

As we were about to leave, I told the dealer that I'm seriously considering buying the Magnepans 3.6R and that I haven't heard anything that would even remotely touch them at this price, but they're not perfect, so perhaps he could recommend something in this price range that would cover the bass better. (This dealer doesn't carry the Magnepans).

2008 CES Gets Juicy

2008 CES Gets Juicy

One year after the Consumer Electronics Show switched venues from the Alexis Park to The Venetian/Sands Expo and Convention Center, leaving "renegade" exhibitors at T.H.E. Show's less costly St. Tropez venue isolated from the rest of the action, both shows are back stronger than ever. CES's "high-performance audio" exhibits in the Venetian's Tower Suites have increased to 173 from 122, while T.H.E. Show has expanded to a total of 90 exhibit rooms in the Alexis Park and the St. Tropez.

Cayin A-88T vs. HIT MT-88

Forums

Hi all,

Has anyone compared the Cayin A-88T vs. the HIT MT-88? Charisma distributes the HIT out of Canada, and said they OEM an upgraded version of the A-88T amp from Spark/Cayin.

Also, I was told by an audiophile friend that Cayin has distribution issues. Are there any details on this situation, or is this just an unfounded rumor?

Thanks in advance,

Bill
