Phenomenal Source of Audiophile Vinyl

Maybe this is old news to some, but for audiophile LPs I've mostly been shopping at Acoustic Sounds. Good place, nice selection, but painfully expensive when you get into the 180 gram stuff. So I saw a link from Tone Magazine record reviews to Soundstage Direct. Wow! 180 gram records for $13.99? Nice! That's more like it- a lot more like it. Anyway, thought there'd be many other vinyl junkies around that'd appreciate the tip.

Over the years, i have found less material in the magazinee that i could use with my audio hobby. I am 50, i doubt that i will ever purchase ultra expensive audio products, for one thing my hearing is not what it used to be. If the record reviews were expanded and there were more pages devoted to older used gear, maybe I would be more interested. Now the mag seems more like an advertisement for high end products and has lots of snob appeal. I loved the old Listener mag, too bad its gone.............

Waiting for FedEx to Open

I spent a part of this morning sitting in the warm lobby of 10 Exchange Place in downtown Jersey City, waiting for FedEx to open. I had some gear to return. While I waited, I decided to listen to music. I undid the two front latches on my black canvas bag. From one pocket, I pulled out the Red Wine Audio iMod, from the other I removed the Shure SE310 earphones.

Music to die for!

Well I suppose at least poor Anna von Walsegg did...

I am referring to the SCO/Mackerras reading of the Levin edition of Mozart's Requiem, available as both SACD and a variety of downloads from Linn Records.

My curiosity aroused by their fantastic Messiah (see Elk's thread), I decided to try the 24/96 FLAC 'Studio Master' download, despite its slightly nosebleed-inducing price of
