Zu Audio DL-103 MC phono cartridge

Zu Audio DL-103 MC phono cartridge

In 1962, when tennis rackets were made of wood, newspeople were known for challenging the government, and the off-Broadway musical The Fantasticks was in its second year (the show closed in 2002), Nippon Columbia's Denki Onkyo (or Den-On) division introduced to the professional audio world a brand-new moving-coil phono cartridge. Developed in cooperation with the Japan Broadcasting Corporation, the DL-103 was one of the first attempts at making a truly wide-bandwidth stereo cartridge that nonetheless could withstand the rigors of back-cueing. The DL-103 was a nearly instant success with broadcasters, and its popularity spilled over into the world of domestic audio.

Harman Kardon 247 Multi Room Setup Question

Are there "tricks" to setting up the Multi-room setting on an HK247? I have verfied that the 2nd room speakers function (by switching them with the main R/L speakers), that the line I'm sending to the 2nd room speakers (VIDEO1) functions (by making that the primary output line to main speakers), and that the Multi Room setting is ON. However, I've never been able to hear anything through the 2nd room speakers on the multiroom setting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I cannot see anything I'm doing wrong from the manual directions.

Recording Firsts in Time for the Holidays

Starbucks, look out! ArkivMusic is on your tail. Just in time for the holidays, the Internet's major classical-music site has teamed up with the Canadian Brass to create ArkivMusic's first new recording, Christmas Tradition: Music for Brass and Organ. The CD, recorded for the Canadian Brass's own label, Opening Day (ODR 7345), includes music by composers who, over the years, have written some of the ensemble's favorite music and arrangements.

Where is the perfect USB DAC?

John Atkinson is not impressed due to inconsistent performance of Benchmark Media DAC1 USB when playing 16 bit, 44.1 kHz files via USB. Where is the jitter performance via USB? Was it too bad to publish?

Last time I believe John Atkinson preferred TosLink to USB performance of Bel Canto e.One DAC3 due to quality and high jitter via USB.

I think only PS Audio DAC III is left now. Does anybody know about its jitter performance?

Marantz PM-80 or AKAI AM-32

I'm considering replacing my NAD c740 receiver with one of these. Speakers are Wharfendale Diamonds, 9.6 model. Which one would you suggest.. and why? And oh, I listen to all kinds of music.. so mostly I'm looking for a neutral sounding amp without preferences towards certain kinds of music.

The reason I'm replacing my NAD c740 is mainly that it seems to suffer from some bad glare when I turn the volume knob up for listening to metal.

Well, if this isn't a depressing description of one man's Hi Fi...

Hola,

I was hanging out at one of the wine forums and there was a topic asking what Hi Fi gear people had.

There was a reasonable response, but I came across this one, and it bummed me out:

"I used to be really into audio and had an all-Linn hardware system with Nordost cables:

- Unidisk 2.1
- Exotik preamp
- LK140 power
- Ninka loudspeakers
- Nordost Flatline MK II speaker cable (bi-wired)
- Nordost Baldur interconnects

Comparing bookshelf speakers

Hi,

I'll appreciate your input on the following speakers, which are intended to be the main ones for music listening. No Sub at this point due to $$, but might add one down the road-

Dali Concept 2 - $370/pair
Infinity Primus 162 - around $250/pair, online
Paradigm Atom Monitor V.5 - $$ unknown yet
Paradigm Alpha B1 - $$ unknown yet

I've heard the Dali's and loved them. Big and clear sound. Could not compare to the others above yet, but I wonder if it's worth the hunt.

Thanks very much
