Recommended Components Errata

As I explain in the current issue's "As We See It" column, I decide on the ratings of the equipment featured in Stereophile's "Recommended Components" listing after consultation with the reviewers, taking into account the original review comments and, sometimes, my own experience.

But despite our best efforts, things can still go awry. This was the case with the Final Laboratory Music-4 phono preamplifier, which was rated Class C in the April 2002 list (Vol.25 No.4, p.100). This rating was suggested by Michael Fremer, who had reviewed the model in our January issue. Unfortunately, while a "C" may have been what Mikey wrote in his note to me, it was not the rating he had intended, which was Class B.

We endeavor to check the current prices of all the components included in the listing, faxing each and every manufacturer, distributor, and PR representative. If we don't hear back from any of these people, the price quoted is that featured in the previous list, which is what happened in the case of the PS Audio products mentioned.

The correct prices are $1245 for the Power Plant P300, and $399 for the Lab Cable.

Our apologies to Final Laboratory and PS Audio, and to readers who may have been misled by these errors.
