I don't see how the last 3 or 6 feet can improve upon the crappy aluminum wiring in my home.

yes, i'm using the fuel master cable made by dignity. i've got it as second hand thru the net. 4 cords for less than 1200 $us. it's amazing how things sound better and much more powerful.

Significant Other will not allow me to place equipment in a rack, has to be hidden behind doors in 12ft. wall unit limiting my cabling options.

As long as the terminations have no cold soldered joints, or overheated joints, and the solder flow is consistent, clean with the appropriate filleting, no nicks on the conductors of the wires of the desired gauge, there is no reason to "dick" with powercords!

I replaced the AC recepticles to hospital-grade and upgraded to shielded power cable.

upgraded stock cords on Cary 306/200,Lexicon dc-2, BAT vk-5i and CAL cl-10 to TG Audio hsr-2i's and hsr-2a and Virtual Dynamics power-3, respectively

PS Audio Power Port in the wall and a Chang Light speed for audio and Richard Gray Power Company & Classe power cord for the video

I've found turning the lights off and a glass of Bordeaux FAR more influential.

Yes, I'm using mostly TG Audio SLVR power cords in my system. With cords this good, why spend more?

Bought better cables!! Good AC cables should be included when buying highend equipment!

Jammrock's picture

I can't afford 'high-end' power cords, and I haven't really heard of any mods until recently...but I'm sure I'll try some in the future.

my marantz sr7200, mm9000,and cambridge s.w. P 1000 sub, have all benifited from monster cable power cords.

No need for power cords in my listening room because all of my components are hydrogen powered.

I ran into an excellent deal on two Harmonic Technology 11 power cords, bought them, and have not regretted it. Get beyond the understandable suspicion and look at the logic, or just listen, and there are sonic benefits to be had. I cannot remember a claim against power cords that was not based more on suspicion than sound.

Geordy Duncan's picture

Sure did. I went with a PS Audio Power Port to connect to my dedicated line and went to NBS power cords throughout. I wouldn't say the upgrade knocked me off my feet but it was definitely there and well worth it. Whenever you allow your equipment to run at their fullest potential they will always present an audible sound improvement. The stock power cords just don't allow the gear to run at their highest levels.

Yes, I've bought several different after-market power cords. I've found the PSAudio Mini-Lab to be an excellent addition - it helps my BAT VK-D5 sound even better than with the standard cord. Hearing is believing!

I have used ferrites clamped on shielded cords and custom made DIY cables using various methods to good effect.

UPGRADED PLUGS ON ATTACHED CORDS, REPLACED CORDS ON DETACHABLES

I replaced the typical 18/16AWG factory-supplied cords with 12AWG manufactured (not aftermarket) cords.

yes, I replaced them. I think you worded this poll very poorly. Replacing PCs and ICs is commonly referred to as upgrading. By upgrading did you mean replacing or did you mean altering the stock cords.

Went with Synergisitic power cords on all components—nd what an upgrade!

I routed my cables like Scull man talked about in Fine Tunes. What ever happened to him?

obieseven's picture

Yes, bought a Custom Power Model 11 and could hear noticable improvement in Rogue 66 preamp but not in Volksamp Aleph 30 amp.

First of all, I spent all my budget on the stereo equipment (Classe cdp-10, cp 35, ca 101 and b&w 805 signatures + cables and rack). If I do buy powerconditioners it will not be this year. Secondly, the better mains conditioners and cables are more or less american/canadian, and are more than twice as expensive here in the UK than in the USA.

I changed the outlet to hubbel plugs. There was a slight improvement in BASS.

I now use my own home made power cords, which I make from extremely, very high quality 10 gauge (military spec.) Teflon jacketed wire. To this I add a very good set of connectors (plugs) such as Wattgate and Marinco, common sense / imagination. This of course is not for every one. However, I do not lack self-esteem and yes, I can afford those $1000. power cords and have once owned and used them in my system, no longer. Come to think about it, I still have some kicking around.

power cord's make a deinite improvement .

I changed power cords for: preamplifier, power amplifier, SACD player and DAC converter. Not all together, but in the sequence I wrote. The results are extraordinary good.

I ran a dedicated power line during remodeling. I have upgraded outlets to Hospital grade, installed quiet line and enecom filters and improved a couple power cords to the tune of about $75. each. I can't say as I have noticed any significant difference.... but I feel better.

Joe - Allentown's picture

I changed out all my power cords. Use Kimber for the M.L. Quests, JP Labs Digital for the M.L.37 and 36. JPS Analog for the M.L. 380 and PAD Collosus for the Classe' CA150. Do I hear a difference? Of course, if I didn't I would have returned any or all of the cords. You have to experiemnt, and when you get to the point that your ears will not discern the difference...STOP. Your nirvana has been reached. You see, it's not how much you spend or how long it takes you, it's when YOU get there. The journey is a lot of fun, but when you present your senses with as much as they can appreciate, you've made it! Kick back and enjoy that money and time no longer hold sway over your quest for musical nirvana. Lucky dog!!
