The Glamorous Side

Here we are in Art Dudley’s listening room, preparing to load the Wilson Audio Sasha into the back of John Atkinson’s Land Cruiser. After removing the Sasha’s WATT head unit from its large Puppy woofer cabinet, we carefully tipped the Puppy onto its side, removed the spikes from its bottom plate, installed the dedicated casters in place of those spikes, hoisted the Puppy back into an upright position, and dressed it up in protective Saran-Wrap.

We then rolled the Puppy from Art’s listening room around a corner, into the hall, out the front door, passed a bunny, and onto the porch.

At the porch, we stopped and thought for awhile. Hmm… Steps. Wet steps. Wet steps which lead to a slick rocky path.

Luckily, Art had a couple of wooden ramps. He placed the ramps onto the steps and, with one person at the top of the stairs and two people at the bottom, we carefully rolled the Puppy down. Once we had the Puppy on the rocky path, I braced myself, while Art tipped the speaker forward so that it rested sort of diagonally against my body. Then, with Art on the high end and me kneeling in the bunny poo, we lifted.

The walk from the rocky path to the back of JA’s Land Cruiser was an eternity. No, I’m just kidding. It wasn’t bad at all. We carefully loaded the Puppy into the truck and, finally, let loose heavy sighs. The WATT head unit fit perfectly behind its partnering Puppy. In comparison to the woofer cabinet, the WATT was laughably light. If I wanted to, I could have chucked it down Art’s hill to nail a cow upside the head.

All of the above happened one more time&#151speakers come in pairs, you know&#151and that was that. The glamorous side of magazine publishing.
