but of course in a plex i have to be careful of the neighbors tendencies. He's ussually out at night too, so i get my listening in most of the time.

I think early evening is when I get time to listen.

Loud Music: mid afternoon. Soft Music: late evening. I find that the room temperature plays a bigger part in my enjoyment of music than the time of day. Give me a nice, warm, well-insulated room, and I'm happy!

Some times, in the early morning, I think background noise drops off or hasn't started yet. In any case, I must feel rested.

When it's dark I can activate the color organ, lasers, fog machine, mirror ball, PAR cans, etc. . . .

I find the evening, during the week

Much to my chagrin (and the accompanying annoyance of my one "shared wall" neighbor), I am a night owl who does a great deal of late night listening. Then, the power grid is cleaner and environmental noises are fewer, which makes everything sound better, further encouraging this antisocial behavior. The neighbor was forewarned about my audio affliction when I moved in and, more importantly, forearmed with my phone number and the invitation to call whenever things became intolerable and petition for peace . . . and quiet.

Right after I de-wax and shave my ears.

Many audiiophile friends have commented that their sound quality improves after about 10:30pm when many people go to bed and the power grid "quiets down." I have noticed this improvement so many times that I am firmly convinced of the correlation.

I enjoy the late evening hours. That's when the rest of the house has gone to sleep and I can sit and have some "me" time. What better way to enjoy that time than listening to a favorite LP?

This time offers a relaxiing atmosphere where impending stresses are an evening away.

I need silence when I'm trying to work, but I like to listen at lunch, or during less critical times.

When the day's chores are done and the workday is long behind me, I can finally clear my mind and concentrate on the music. Do this much past midnight, though, and I'm likely to doze off no matter how good the music is (does this mean I need a system upgrade? :). Besides, how many of us have the flexibility to listen in the middle of the day?

The later at night, the better the listening. Reasons? Lower ambient noise level in the listening room and better quality and quantity of incoming AC are the main factors.

I prefer early morning. The house is quiet and I'm well-rested and attentive. The downside is that my wife is still in bed and I have to keep the volume at moderate levels.

It's so much quieter, no traffic noise, planes or family racket!!!

I find that personal energy level effects my enjoyment of music. The more energy I have the more "in to" music I am.

Anonymous's picture

It's silent and nobody bothers you.

Probably because I just got off work and I'm able to unwind and relieve the stresses of the day

IF I HAD THE TIME AND FREEDOM,I WOULD PREFER TO LISTEN TO MY SYSTEM IN THE EARLY MORNING.

Some might say "its a cleaner power surply at night" but for me its that the wife has gone to bed. next door might not agree though!

There is nothing better than the absence of distracting noises from outside and the solitude to really enjoy the music you like. The best way to start the day

At 1:00-4:00am, I can listen at much lower volumes AND still be swept away, mostly because things are MUCH quieter around me. It just seems so much more involving. Unfortunately, I am only able to do this occasionally.

I used to listen at about anytime, but as I have been getting a slight bit of tinitus, morning is when I enjoy music the best. The tinitus seems to have relaxed a touch after sleeping.

A cup of coffee, the morning paper, or the latest magazines complement my favorite listening time in the morning.

I think that my enjoyment of music around this time of day has to do with how relaxed I am from being so tired. When I am tired, I don't think about what the system sounds like, and I just enjoy the music.

after i get rid of all the clusterfuck elements that surround my hellish existance, the music and i can both find our places within each other.
