In ancient times, when I first ventured beyond playing files stored on a USB stick or NAS to streaming from Tidal and Qobuz, I ran a USB cable between a MacBook Pro and my DAC. For playback software, I alternated between Amarra, Audirvana, and—sometimes with a dCS DAC—dCS Mosaic.

I was born and raised in Argentina. Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated by machines. My mother used to call me "Botones" (Spanish for "Buttons") because I pressed every button and turned every knob I encountered. I was particularly interested in machines that played music, especially my dad's Grundig console, which sounded like a warm breeze in a beautiful sunset.

Most of us, most of the time, live in the world of good enough. On a Saturday, we might drive our Ford Fiesta to pick up a polo shirt at Banana Republic, then dine at Outback Steakhouse, and later get ready for bed with a mug of Celestial Seasonings Caramel Apple Dream tea while watching an episode of Hoarder House Flippers.
