Hi all,
I'm currently building/upgrading my Hi-Fi system. My room is a rectangular shaped 15*12 feet (4.5m*3.5m)with the hi-fi and HT systems placed in the middle of the longer side. The distance between the main speakers is 8ft (2.5m) if necessary
I listen mostly classical but also rock and jazz.
So, I began building the system from the digital source, which is a lovely Rega Apollo
Just entered another order for Mapleshade recordings - five CD's for forty-eight bucks. Never have bought a recording from them that I haven't kept and enjoyed despite their "return it if you don"t like it" policy. Also just finished reading through all of Pierre Sprey's "free upgrades" (tweaks, if you will) and reviewing all of the offerings for cables, interconnects, power cords, etc. Sprey has to be one of the of the top ten "tweakers", and now and then I agree with one of his - for example, I too think tweeters should be a little higher than ear level.
Does anyone have any info on using an outboard DAC for Sirius Radio plug & play receivers? The Starmate and Sportster with home dock don't offer coax or optical digital out jacks unfortunately. Only analog 1/8 stereo jack to Stereo RCA. I guess I'm addressing the tweakers/modders out there for a way to bypass the internal DAC or add a digital out somehow. Am I being foolish? Should I just suck it up, buy a third subscription, and a stand alone Sirius tuner with digital outs? Let me know...!!! Thanks!
I've been Dynaudio Contour 1.3 MKII speakers and a Luxman L-430 integrated amp. Anyway, I have decided to retire the amp and am looking for a good replacement.
Originally i was looking at a DIY KT-88 based PP amp, but I just don't think it will drive these speakers well enough - especially at the bottom end. I also read on a furum somewhere that Dynaudio themselves recommend and use solid state for their in factory tuning and development.
I wasnt sure were to put this on your board. I am considering
getting a pair of sennheiser HD 555 cans. I have 2 questions are they worth the $$? Does Sennheiser have replacement pads and are the user replaceable? I have contacted sennheiser but they are taking forever.
