Hi,
I am considering setting up a music server using an existing spare PC. I was considering doing one of the following:
-> Get a high end PCI audio card (like Azuntech's X-Meridian) and feeding it directly to my preamp. I'm open to better sound card options here as there were only a few that seemed to fit the bill. And even then I wonder...
-> use the onboard S/PDIF output from my motherboard to a good used DAC (~$1000).
Would it be possible where products have two distinct modes of operation ie hirez players playing CDs or the Sonos player's digital out to comment in the recommneded components entry whether one mode differs greatly in sound quality? This is a particular issue with hirez players in class A+ since their redbook performance must be lower.
Thank you
Jeremy
My DVD player recently died so I had to replace it with a new one. I picked up a Philips DVP-5960 at Circuit City for 100 bucks. It's got some improvements over my old DVD player and cost a lot less. One is the HDMI interface and video upsacling for output at 720 or 1080. As for Audio playback, what peaked my interest is that it features upsampling to 88.2 or 192 khz.
I have an NAD C350 amplifier that I've owned for about 5 years now. I've recently began using it as my main audio for my TV, and a minor issue is driving me crazy.
