Likely an age old question - but am I to see any noticeable difference in a Hi-Fi CD player

I have collected a lot of music CDs over the years (after many teenage years of abusing vinyl). I just started putting together a system. Started with loudspeakers (that is where much of the budget went), an AVR, a power amp for the mains, and a universal disc player (a rather inexpensive one, does not support SACD). Everything that I am using is subject to change as I grow the system, except the speakers and subs. They will stay.

NAD Master Series M5 CD/SACD player...

Just looking for some feedback on this player. I can pick up & dealer demo (not in my area, so I haven't heard it) for a really good price. I also am looking at Marantz SA-15 & SA-11S2, Esoteric SA-10 & SA-60. The Marantz & Esoteric models are quite a bit more money than the NAD M5. I always wonder if the difference in price is justified?

Any feedback from NAD M5 owners would be great. And also any other recommendations on CD/SACD players you can throw out would be appreciated.

Merry Christmas & thanks

Musial Fidelity Dr Thomas Power Amp

I have an old MF Dr thomas power amp. One channel is not working, emitting fire cracker noise. I sent it to the technician to repair but was told chips or transistors not working and he could not find the parts. I approached the agent who can only repair only if there is a circuit plan.

Can someone out there help me to diagnose the problem? Can it be repaired by any technician?

Would Stereophile review Zu speakers

Forums

I wonder if Stereophile would be willing to do a full review including technical measurements of one of the speakers from Zu Audio? I'm interesed to see if their sensitivity and bandwidth claims can be verified. Or does the fact they're only sold direct rule them out of a foraml review?

Happy holidays

Jeremy
