I have an ancient Sony D7 DAT recorder/player. I last used this maybe 10 years ago and have a score of old tapes recorded.
When I put away the tape player, it was clean and operated perfectly. Today I broke it out, plugged in a headphone, powered it up and inserted a tape, pushed play..it read 'load' and then did nothing at all. I also cannot rewind or fast forward the tapes or run a cleaning tape in the unit.
Does anyone remember anything about these things? The owners manual does not say zip about this problem.
In short, it loads fine but does not play at all.
I posted some comments under Stephen Mejias' blog entry regarding the Gizmodo article on Mr. Fremer. Here's the link, as I am concerned that not a whole lot of people will see it

My roommates blew out my B&W DM 302s. Quote the guilty: "We had a party last night and the speakers started to smell and then stopped working." Great. They've agreed to kick me $250, which was the retail price back in '98 when they first came out (I picked them up for $50 from a friend of the family). These were great speakers and I'm sad to see them go, but this unfortunate episode does give me a chance to upgrade (I'm moving to my own place in June so I won't have to worry about my equipment being trashed). I've got a budget of about $400-500.
Hi everyone!
I have a big doubt obout how is the most accurate way to messure a speaker sensibility. what are the differences of using a pure tone and using a pink noise to feed the speaker?
Thanks!
