At the Monkeyhaus

At the Monkeyhaus

The quiet evenings leading up to a DeVore Fidelity Monke…; event are passed by searching through your record collection for the perfect LPs. Every attendee will offer their own ideas of interesting and exciting music, and you will not be outdone by some other audiophile. You decide to bring one of your 2009 R2D4 selections, Lo Dice Todo by Grupo Folklorico y Experimental Nuevayorquino; Richard Hayman's <a href="http://blog.stereophile.com/stephenmejias/genuine_electric_latin_love_m… Electric Latin Love Machine, not only for the persuasive content but also for the outstanding album art; and El Guincho's Alagranza! because you're pretty certain it'll shock and impress the crowd.

GOP and tasty irony.

After whining about Illinois and Chicago politics for the last year, who does the Limbaugh Zombie Party put up to give their anti-Obama speech and become their new icon?

Yup, a guy from Louisianna!

Who used to be a conressman with ties to New Orleans!

About the only state and city more corrupt than Illinois and Chicago!

The guy changed his name from Piyush to "Bobby."

Raised a pagan Hindu until "converting" to Christianity in high school.

If he were a Democrat, JIMV and the other canaries would being crying themselves to sleep over this guy!

Box type vs Tower Type speakers

Could some one tell me what are the differences in sonic charecteristics of a box type speaker (eg. the Harbeths and Spendor Classics) vs more commonly found tower type floor standing speakers and why? Is one of them more ideal? Usually the bookshelf speakers are like boxes and if we were to make floor standers I would expect the same aspect ratio for the cabinet or vice versa (but I have never seen thin looking hifi bookshelf speakers)...any comments.

What makes really good speakers sound really good?

I'm looking for several people near me (Western Connecticut, Northern NJ, NYC) to loan a single full-range loudspeaker for an interesting research project. If willing, please email me from my personal site www.ethanwiner.com including your real name, address, and phone number.

Dreaming of Cleaning

Dreaming of Cleaning

If you visit our News Desk, you'll find my announcement of Michael Fremer's latest DVD, It's A Vinyl World, After All. While Michael offers an entertaining look into the world of vinyl manufacturing and provides tons of valuable information on record collecting, handling, cleaning, and storage, I did have one minor criticism:
