Hi
Listneing last night to a solo violin fill a large concert hall with the single brush of the bow against a string, it got me thinking what exactly generates the sound in an instrument ?
If we assume that energy has to be transformed into sound waves where does that energy come from in say a violin player ? the phyiscal energy expanded to draw a bow accross the strings is minimal yet it fills the hall with sound ? if this was an amplifier violin it would require many times the electrical energy to create the sound waves ?
Hey, what's up when a digital player starts making clicks in the audio signal at low signal levels?
Quiet passages and fade outs start to get the click click click thing.
The playa is only 18 months old, and sounds OK so long as the signal doesn't get to a lower level.
Piss me off.
I pick it up an inch or two and drop it, but that doesn't help.
Why is Acoustic Sounds pushing 45 RPM records. They have like 7 to 10 tracks per disc. Here is an example...

Hi there. I have "invested" in my stereo system well over $10.000 in components, including Triangle brand speakers. Anyway, as I am a perfectionist in music and a firm believer of the "sweet spot" meaning that being the speakers in the right position etc etc you could perfectly hear the 3 dimension stereo music effect and all its benefits. Anyway, whenever I tried to listen to my music first I did some speakers positioning work using the Stereophile cd test. I could never do it right. I got really frustrated spending hours moving the speakers and my seat without enjoying my music.
Its the Beethoven festival at the CSO this month
Ive got tickets to two piano recitals then im watching the 5th & 8th then the finale in a couple of weeks is the 9th. I restricted the number of concerts and went for quality seats, i love sitting in the boxes and relaxing, so much better than being squashed into the balcony seats. Symphony hall was designed for midgets, not normal size Americans !!
I posted about this in the other thread but it seems to be getting worse. Plus, my fiance notices too.
I've been noticing a wobbly pitch with a older Technics TT that I just got. The pitch control isn't a slider. It's a vertical dial that has no real "centre".
When you look straight DOWN over the platter, you can see the needle from back and for from left to right...I'm pretty sure it's not the record being warped?
Given that I don't know really how these things yet (but want to learn) any tips on how I might fix this?
