I'm no audiophile, but I know what I like. As a child I listened to my father play clarinet. He and mom wanted us kids to be exposed to all types of music. Trumpet was my instrument. When most of my high school buddies wanted to be rock musicians, I was into electronics and recording. I looked up to Phil Spector, George Massenburg and Quincy Jones. Eventually, television production gave me the opportunity to have a hand in all aspects of audio and visual media. Now, I have an Onkyo system with Bose 301's in the living room and a home theater power by Rotel components with Vandersteen 1C's at all four corners, VCC1 center, and 2W subwoofer. A Toshiba 65" HDTV provides the eye candy and I am in for a night of great entertainment. I love the sound of the Vandersteens for 2-channel listening as well.

I walked into a store in mansfield ohio, and heard music from components like, onkyo and marantz. It seemed so much more real to me. I could'nt find anything that could top it, (until now). Now I have nakamichi, pioneer elite, etc. Much better!

It was Mark Levinson himself who made me an audiophile, having worked for Cello for fourteen years, his vision on music reproduction astonished me,

The event that brought me into this hobby. I walked into one of the local specialists and started to listen to a system. I was playing one of my favorite CDs. It sounded so much more real on that than any other time I had heard that CD played. I became addicted to trying to save up the money to get that kind of sound into my room.

i'm working towards the goal of becoming an audiophile. studying electrical engineering has allowed me to appreciate the figures and charts in stereophile mag. combine this with a few recent trips to a high-end audio store, and i've seen a correlation between noise figures and a heightened listening experience. this is what is drawing me towards the world of high-end audio.
