I don't like to download music from the Internet. I still like to buy CDs. Am I supposed to be from "the Old Europe" ?

Hate to spend when I do not have to but composers and performers should be able to earn a fair living. I pay willingly for music.

No, I can sample unknown music at CDNOW, Chesky and others, then buy what I think I might want, then replace the cheezy box with one from Audio Advisor and I'm good to go.

Why download low rez music?

This is truly sad, since the mp3 downloads are not even CD quality. I use a number of free sources for new music and when I find an artist and song I like, I will buy that. I don't buy into the RIAA's claim they are losing money or that the artists loose money with the mp3 sites. It strikes me as greed and I think it is killing the music industry. It has actually caused me to buy fewer new titles and I used to buy several hundred new CDs a year. Now I look more at used CDs and LPs and I am happier for it.

I'm from the old school, I rather buy the cd or the wax, to get my money's worth and sound quality.

MP3.com....it's free and it offers new and independent artists. More of what I'm looking for instead of the mainstream music.

I am not interested in any compressed music files (lossless like MLP is OK). Invariably when I purchase a CD or Vinyl I find that I like more than the selection I purchased it for. I am currently surfing using a dial up connection so downloading un-compressed audio would take to long. There is the question of cover art and liner notes. Sometimes I take out some of my old CTI vinyl just to look at the covers. The loss of great cover art like the old CTI's is a revoltin' situation.

Haven't yet although it sounds like a great idea for consumers (the people who pays the bills). Since folks will now cherry pick the best tunes from a CD, might this sound the death knell for the album concept.....or, because of the choice, will it be an enhancement?

Why should I pay for a poor quality restricted use set of data, that if I want to make a hard copy to use as a back up costs me more money. (I have had the unfortunate experience of losing a hard drive and all of its data). If I want to spend my hard earned money on a piece of music. I want it to be in as high quality a format as I can find. and I want to be able to take with me if I travel, and trade or sell or loan it to someone else if I want to.
