Hoping to collect some recommendations before I start auditioning this month. Room is 12' X 20' but a riser and two rows of seating mandate placement within 1 foot of front wall for L/C/R speakers. Budget $5 to $7K for front three speakers, any favorite sealed or front-ported models I should listen too? Thanks,
John
hello to everyone,
i have a problem with my direct drive [techniques 1210 mk2] turntable. Whenever a vocal with a 'sh' [or something similiar, like a 'f' or 'ch'] is sung, a fuzz surrounds it as it is amplified through the speaker. I have tried other records and it occurs on them all,; i have also changed the needle and cartridge, but it hasn't helped.
Any ideas?
Michael
I assume that most of us have been audio nuts for many years. Has anyone else pulled off a sound-system prank or have an amusing audio story you could share?
I don't know the full details, but I heard that the Valkyrie
loudspeaker built years ago by GNP (Gross National Product of Pasadena) was named after a prank where Ride of the Valkyries was played extremely loud the night before Finals at the Cal Tech Dormitory.
I personally shut the power off in the dorm room of a guy playing Nugent's Stranglehold way too loud...he thought he blew up his system.
Assuming that Ken Kessler's "International News Update" wasn't a parody, it is one of the most amazingly wrong-headed articles I've read in years. Life is too short for a point-by-point refutation but how do you grant credibility to someone who says: "Norway, Denmark, and Sweden have demanded that Apple meet their demands...Finland is expected to follow...this is amusing-those nations' combined population is smaller than that of Los Angeles."
Here is a little problem ...... I shipped my speakers from one country to another. In the process a rat got into the cargo and made a mess of the fabric on the top horizontal surface of one of the speakers. The fabric now needs to be replaced.
Does anyone know how?
I have asked B&W by email if they have any suggestions or an AutoCad layout showing the speaker construction. Sadly B&W are not quite good with email. I will send them a letter in the post to see if that helps any.
