8 ohm vs 4 ohm

Forums

I just bought the Wavac 833 v1.3 amps and I need some help pairing them with speakers. There is a local dealer with the MBL 101e but he told me they need/take a 4 ohm load. I really know the difference between 8 ohm and 4 ohm. I have seen speakers requiring 6 ohm! Any help out there?

Being a sixty year old rock star ain't easy, but there’s gotta be a better way for rock bands to grow old than the one Aerosmith has chosen. A symphony gig? What's next Disneyland on a co-bill with Up With People?

Sixwise.com posts an interesting article listing the "10 most-feared, but least-likely causes of death." That airplane crash you're so worried about? Not so likely. On the other hand, the list of the 10 leading causes of death is more, um sobering. (Alcohol consumption is third.)

I'm confused about formats

Back in the early 90's when I started to listen to high quality music there was basically CD and LP sources. Now there are so many more formats. SACD, DVD audio etc. What are the differences between CD, SACD, and DVD Audio? Why are good SACD players so much more expensive than good CD players? How come some SACD players only play two channel music? What's the point and the benefit of buyin an SACD player that only outputs two channel music? Are there DVD audio players that only output two channel music?
