I want to put a digitally based system into my loft . It's a rather large space (about 23x23x20 ft) with a lot of hard surfaces that I am trying to soften up with rugs, furniture etc. The idea is to store all music on a hard drive and play back through iTunes feeding a good quality D/A converter linked to a power amp, etc. Would like to spend under $4,000, and would be very grateful for D/A converter, poweramp and speaker suggestions.
I recently purchased a Teac A-4300SX reel to reel from Ebay and overall is a nice machine however in reverse play it seems to be playing back a little of the tape from the forward side, in other words you can hear over hear audio from the forward side while I'm playing on the reverse side. I wonder is there any adjustments that can be made or is it just not fully engaging to hear complete reverse play? Forward play sounds great BTW.
I'm wondering what the best way to compare cartridges given my available options. I would like to see the differences between my at-oc9ml/II and a soon to arrive clearaudio concerto. The Concerto should win hands down but I would like to do a test. I have a digital recorder with cf memory card. Should I record several songs to the recorder with the at and then the same songs with the concerto and then compare?
Hello,
I noticed from your review and test measurements, that neither of you make any mention of the foam piece supplied with the speakers to reduce interaction between the tweeter and midrange. Was this piece used during the audition and testing? If not, for what reason? If you did, what difference did it make in your measurements? I've notice every review mentions this piece of foam except yours.
Thanks,
BB
