Theory plus Application

According to T+A (Theory plus Application) ElektroAkustik's Lothar Wiemann, the manufacturer is one of Germany's largest electronics companies. (It is distributed in the US and Canada by Dynaudio North America.) This company makes the 1000 W M10 monoblock hybrid amplifiers ($33,0000/pair), where the output stage uses tubes to handle the voltage and transistors handle the current. T+A had a live exhibit of their new HV (High Voltage) series, including the PA 3000 HV integrated amplifier ($16,000) , which uses 500V supplies for the solid state output-stage to create "a tube-like environment." The amplifier is housed in a 84 lb aluminum case with black heatsinks, and is rated at 300Wpc into 8 ohms and 500Wpc into 4 ohms. The PA 3000 HV was being used to drive T+A's CWT floorstanding loudspeakers ($36,000/pair), with music sourced from the company's new MP-3000HV music player ($12,500), which serves as a universal source (network client, internet radio, USB stick, CD player or FM tuner. The sonics were open, smooth, dynamic, and generated a convincing, deep soundstage.
