AXISS Audio Introduces the Accuphase E-3000 Integrated

In front of a passive hallway display in the lobby of the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center, Mark Henninger and I caught up with TJ Goldsby, AXISS Audio's vice president of sales and dealer relations, and Takaya Inokuma, senior management director, Accuphase Laboratory. Together, we chatted about the first showing of the brand-new, entry-level Accuphase E-3000 integrated amplifier ($8975). Accuphase's new class-AB integrated outputs 100Wpc into 8 ohms.

... the E-3000 justify the $2K price premium over the outgoing E-280 - which is still available from some dealers?
Likewise, the outgoing and more powerful E-380 is still available for only $1K more than the E-3000.

Also, the claim is made that the power output of the E-3000 will "double down" into a 4-ohm load, relative to the 8-ohm rating. Yet, the specs indicate only a 50% power increase.

It should have been mentioned that the optional phono module costs $1,275 and the optional DAC module costs $1,475.

For comparison, the Luxman L-505Z - with the same power ratings as the E-3000, plus a standard MM/MC phono stage - costs only $6K.
The more powerful (110W/210W) L-507Z - again with a standard MM/MC phono stage - costs the same $9K as the E-3000.
