I wish I could make that one!
The station is celebrating their fifth anniversary with what might be the coolest music fest of the summer.
The East Village Radio Music Festival will be held on Saturday, September 6, from 1 to 9pm at South Street Seaport's Pier 17. Free shuttle bus service will be provided from the station to the Seaport. The legendary KRS-One of Boogie Down Productions will serve as host of the main stage where audiences will get to enjoy performances from several exciting acts, including: Awesome Color, Vivian Girls (hot), Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Devin the Dude.
In addition, Icelandic folk singer Olof Arnalds will perform with freakishly talented multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily, who left us stunned when we last saw him perform in Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog. (Dude blew our minds!) And the whole dang thing will be headlined by those sexy Japanese rockers, Boris, heavier than a summer thunderstorm.
A second stage at 210 Front Street gets things hotter with the very cool Aa (big A, little A), Bunnybrains, Crystal Stilts, Hex Message, and Woods. As if that wasn't awesome enough, food will be provided by Frank Catering! That's Frank, as in Frank, Lil' Frankie's, and Supper, three of my favorite restaurants in the entire unreal City. (Just don't try getting a seat at 8:30 on a Friday night because you'll stand in a crowd of beautiful people for so damn long, you'll want to kill someone or yourself.) Frank's food is yummy!
The music is free, but you have to pay to eat. Luckily, none of the menu items cost more than nine bucks. Sounds like fun, right?
