Energy Reference Connoisseur line

Forums

I've been looking into a speaker purchase; the rest of the system is all up to the level I want it to be. There are some Klipsch speakers that I like and a nice pair of Totems that are a bit more than I wanted to spend. The guy at my favorite stereo place is making my listen a lot to Energy's RC series. I must say that sound-wise, they are very impressive - at least on par with anything else I've listened to. And they look infinitely better, the veneers are beautiful. The wife would like them for that reason alone.

Do you have any hopes that the new Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats will use their high-resolution audio capability?

While SACD and DVD-A seem pretty much format roadkill, do you have any hopes that the new Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats will use their high-resolution audio capability?

Oh Boy—The Audio Broadcast Flag Licensing Act of 2006

No, you aren't reading an old newsdesk article that has inadvertently been published a second (or third) time. On March 2, congressional representative Mike Ferguson (R-NJ) introduced House Resolution 4861, "the audio broadcast licensing act of 2006." Ferguson's co-sponsors were Edolphus Towns (D-NY), Mary Bono (R-CA), Bart Gordon (D-TN), and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).

iPod: Threat or Menace?

In an article published in <I>The Wall Street Journal</I> on <A HREF="http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB114117951081886103.html?mod=toda… 1</A>, Ethan Smith suggested that consumer electronics companies need to recapture music lovers who have sacrificed audio quality in search of convenience by embracing portable devices such as the iPod.

Where the Devil is the Music Store?

Seldom does a week pass when I don't buy at least one recording - mostly vinyl, but CD's sometimes. On the other hand, it has been a long time since I bought one in a bricks and mortar store. What is the internet for but to keep me in music?

Yesterday I had the misfortune of needing to kill about two hours in the neighborhood of a large shopping mall about thirty miles from my home and about 15 miles from downtown Chicago (Oakbrook, Jim). Go buy some music, I thought. Browse the bins. Do it the old way, it'll be fun.

Central Texas Grooves

Hey guys,

It has been a while since I posted, I have been super busy, I hope everyone has been doing well. I have been finishing up my masters report and of course buying lots of records. Throughout my search for more and more records I started wondering how many record shops there are in Central Texas (where I live), so I decided to make a website documenting them all. So here is what I have so far, if you all can think of anymore just let me know:

ICEpower amps review ?

Forums

After reading several rave reviews of the Jeff Rowland Concerto Integrated and one also rave review of the Bel Canto REF1000 in respectable French audio magazines, I'd love to see a review of these amps in Stereophile. A comparative review would be especially worthwhile as these amps (as well as some smaller Bel Canto models) are built on B&O's ICEpower digital switching technology. It is striking that the JR Concerto has been described as "analog-like" or "tube-like" while being much more powerful than any tube amp.

<B>Editor's Note: </B><I>Although this product has been available for several years, it is being reviewed in considerable detail because it is a strong contender for the title of "Best Available Loudspeaker System, Regardless of Cost," and because we plan to review some of the other contenders for the same title within the next few issues. We feel that since all of these systems represent a considerable outlay of money, prospective buyers should have a thorough understanding of the merits and demerits of each system, so they will know what to expect from them in the way of performyince capabilities and operational requirements.</I>
