Hola,
Sitting here with a glass of spirits, thinking about what speakers I would consider to be "the classics" of Hi-Fi speakers.
I'm sure I'd forget many, but I'll start with the ones that were earthshaking to me, in their day.
Limit of five models per post?
Given my life choices, mine will relate to the more human price points (In no particular order...)
A) Dahlquist DQ-10
This baby didn't play so loud, and it had terrible vertical dispersion, but it did things well on balance.
Does anybody have a good source for audio grade caps in small quanities? I'm restoring an old tube amp and I'm uncomfortable with buying quantity.
Should I just bite the bullet, buy 100 caps and sell 90 of them on ebay? I can post a list of the ones that I need if it would help... Any feedback from DIYers would also be appreciated.
Thanks
Nick
Whatever you do, do not skip the Andrew Hill profile in the June issue. It is one of the most well written and informative artist profiles I've ever encountered. Complimentary without pandering, author Dan Ouellette uses the voices of several of Hill's closest associates to paint a very vivid picture of this true American musical treasure. And to add icing to the cake, the sidebar recommends four absolutely fantastic recordings.
A truly first class treatment for a truly first class artist.
