Great DK Amp Review

Thanks for a great, well balanced review of the DK amplifier.

The same amplifier ( in its earlier version) is on offer, on another Hi Fi Newsgroup. Hence the Stereophile one was Perfectly timed, for me.

All reviews that I have been pointed to, for this product, have been sooo over the top, as to lack credibility.

The Stereophile review as Very Nice. Also, it clearly mentioned the upgrade between the earlier and current versions. The technical review by JA was also superb.

Thanks & Cheers

Hi-Fi cred is earned, not demanded.

Hola,

Just so the writers know, anyone who likes Hi-Fi has Hi-Fi cred. You don't have to brow beat me, I'm a fellow listener. If you need to be infallible, go be the Pope.

I've shivered through the March "As We See It" column about how a certain someone has better ears than those who disagree with him; he can hear the emotion and color of a piece - and if others don

Tube Supplies Under Siege

Tube Supplies Under Siege

It may read like a page out of a classic corporate crime thriller, but the threat is real. ExpoPul, a company whose factory in Saratov, Russia manufactures vacuum tubes under the brand names Sovtek, Electro-Harmonix, Tungsol, Svetlana, Mullard, and others—tubes that include the 6H30 "super tube"—is threatened by one of the many Russian corporate "raiders" who are increasingly stealing businesses from their rightful owners. If the threatened hostile takeover proves successful, two-thirds of the world's supply of vacuum tubes—tubes vital to the sound of audiophile gear and instruments from such well-known companies as McIntosh, Audio Research, BAT, Jadis, Fender, KORG, Peavey, Vox, Soldano, Carvin, Ampeg, and Crane—could become a thing of the past.

Where to fill Jazz 1800 speaker stands

Does the sand and/or lead shot go into the base piece or the legs for this model stand? I'm getting the speakers positioned right now, so I have a little time to wait for an answer. The base and top pieces seem logical since there are removable caps, where the legs only have a threaded screw hole on each end.

The Advent Loudspeaker Manufacturer's Comment

After a number of years of equipment reviewing, one gets rather blasé about "compact" loudspeakers. The appearance of yet another one that looks like hundreds of others and embodies no radically new innovations to pique one's curiosity is likely to be greeted with a passionate Ho-Hum.
