Information on AR-58

Forums

I have a pair of AR-58's I bought new in either the late 70's or early 80's. I just noticed that I have a blown sub-woofer. When I take it out of the enclosure to see if there are any specs written on it, it is blank.

How do I find what the specs for this speaker are?

Assuming I can get an answer to the question above, where can I go to get a pair of replacements?

Kenwood Basic M2A amp and C2 Preamp, worth keeping?

I'm starting to get back into audio and home theater. I use to be big into it back in the 80's before marriage, but a wife and young kids will put a quick stop to high end stereo purchases and I pretty much got into movies and away from the audiophile side of things. I was looking to upgrade my Jamo Cornet speakers which I've had for some years now and have been spending way to much time doing research according to my wife. I was thinking of upgrading to some Monitor Audio B4's to get a bit more bass response for audio without having to use my sub.

Best sounding 1984 14 Bit

So goes all that high bit rate etc. In the early years, Philips had a 14bit (I had this player from Employee store, highly discounted). It was built like a TANK, first one in U.S. made in Belgium, stuck Magnavox name on it, instead of Philips. Same machine. And the original golden ears, said it sounded best, yet it was only 14 bit, when others where 16bit. Maybe Zander needs to get this original OBSOLETE chip and come out with the Zander MKII. Less bits, better sound. Don't need no stinkin' specs, just more distortion.

Physics still matters, small sucks, big is in

No matter what the ads say, ya can't make big sound with small speakers, that's why it's a BLOSE, and any other undersized speaker, even the overpriced small ones from those high end names. Ya can't beat mother nature or PHYSICS. Small woofers don't move air, and when they do they DISTORT. Guess who has it right, BD at Legacy for one. Read this.
