Here goes my story - the hunt for the perfect upgrade.

My set up : Marantz CD 7300 cdp, Marantz PM 7200 amp and Jamo E855. Also I have not invested in any cables or interconnects (I am using probably the lowest grade cables and I have not done biwiring).

My problem : Fatigue , some how I tire out with my set up. Its not a particular sound problem (though I feel the mid range is not good with the Jamos) but it is more related to fatigue I guess, I tire out after an hour or two and I feel something is wrong.

Grand Finale: Ode to Joy and Chaos..

I am replacing a 20 year old system- Optimus receiver and speakers which performed REMARKABLY well (and I've heard some expensive audio equipment). I am using this only for music, mostly at parties. The room is very awkward for audio...stone floor and 1 wall is basically glass (bar room) with a bar going down the center. The room is around 30 feet long by 10 feet by 9 feet. The stereo is going at one end of the 30 foot area.

Hello again. I have been posting quite a bit about my new CD player purchace. Despite the fact I did not give it a glowing review (yet?), I am happy to have it as I was not expecting a huge improvement anyway.

I talked to the salesman that sold it to me just this evening. He is a techy and installer, not just a sales guy, so I generally do trust what he says. He said that the last 4 customers who added one of these to their system, said that the unit really improves after about 20 hours of use.

Can that be true and how?

Well my new Rotel RCD-1072 CD player was brought home.

I spent half a day messing with it in various configurations and receiver settings to A. See what the 1072 sounds like in various states of connect
B. Put it up against my $70 Panansonic Universal Player.
