I am not yet new to hi-fi. I chose a set of 2 Unison Research equipment (tube integrated amp S6 -35 Wpc- and a CD player Unico) to match to a pair of Sonus Faber Domus Grand Piano speakers(max power of 200 Wpc). I bought the speakers and brought them home to Colombia. When I tried to buy the integrated amp and the cd player in Chile I found out that they cannot get them for 120 volts but for 220 v.
Now I have 5 questions:
1. Is the Unison Research tube integrated amp S6 at 35 Wpc a good match for my speakers (whose manufacturer recommends a range of 30-200 Wpc)?

I saw the Canadian Brass at Roy Thomson Hall (Toronto) on the 22nd for their annual Christmas performance. It wasn't entirely seasonal music, in fact they perfromed an Operetta with a Western theme... no not that "Western", Western as in the Wild Wild West! No kidding, it was a riot!

Anyway what a treat, I love brass so hearing these virtuosi was something special especially as they have always mixed it up musically, Corelli too New Orleans, they do it all!

the new generation iPods? I ask because Apple has apparently made fairly major changes to the circuit (Red Wine will no longer mod them, in fact), including the substitution of a Cirrus Logic DAC for the Wolfson that had been in place before. I'd love to see what measurements JA would discover.

Does anyone have experience with Harbeth HL 7ES 3 or Spendor S3e? If so, can you compare them for me? I do mostly classical listening, with a good measure of jazz and indie music thrown in. The room is approximately 15' x 20'.

It would be doubly helpful if you can contrast these with some of the more recent bookshelf models that are popular, i.e. NHT classic 3, etc. etc... Thanks.

P.S. - I was also interested in ATC SCM 12 or Revel M20... sorry for being all over the map. STILL in the process of building my 1st system!

I have a pair of RSIIIB's and seem to have the following issue. When I play loud music (only when it is loud) it sounds like the high frequency sounds cut in and out as the music is playing. It does this intermittently. Previously someone suggested I use Deoxit on the crossovers and I did but the issue is still there.

Any ideas what can cause such an issue and what would be some fixes I need to look into. Other than this occasional issue the speakers sound fantastic.

At this point I discounted the CD player, preamp and amps.

The caveat is... it's in Korean! But the reviews are sharp and opinionated, professionally written; I've been visiting the site frequently the past two days. I believe they're somehow related to Stereophile Korea, as John Atkinson's review of Dynaudio Confidence 4 is translated, too. I am looking for a 2ch system for my office. It will be mostly near field listening as the office is somewhat small so that is why I am looking into monitors. I head read very good things about the Silverline Minuet so I contacted them but unfortunately they don't have a dealer in my area but I could still purchase directly from them with a nice discount.

Hi. I am considering purchasing the Cambridge Audio 840C as my CD source, and also intend on using it as DAC through which to run my Squeezebox. Is this a good idea at all? Anyone have experience using a Squeezebox through 840C? If so, how does the sound compare to Benchmark DAC 1? Thanks, and happy new year!
