I'm generally very happy with my Rega P2.
I had the guys at the store (high end audio store) install and align the cart. On two brand-new records, I ran into the dreaded 1.8 second repeat. The first time, I thought it was a bad record, but when it happened on another one, I decided to increase the tracking for a little to see if it helped. It did. (By the way, it ocurred in the exact same spot each time, so there must be something on the record throwing it off).

I've been reading most of your articles on your site and I was wondering: Do bass waves (in general) pass through anything not truly solid (like a table or a cabinet)? Like for instance would they mostly go right though a sofa? I'm curious as to whether one could put some bass traps behind a sofa or chair for instance. I know upholstered furniture can reflect and absorb various frequencies (mine is fabric BTW and not at all overstuffed) and I have about 6" behind it and the wall where some bass traps could be discretely placed, if of course they'd do anything back there.
I've committed. Sent the deposit. As of 8/1, I'll have a turntable in my system. Probably an impractical choice for me, but I just had to. Gotta run, but more later...!
