Hi
Ive mentioned a few times on the forum that this is probably my favourite single peice of music. From it being the first LP I ever bought ( ELP verison ) to the peice of music that led me into classical music.
Well i was in London last weekend on a business trip and just happened to notice the proms were taking place at the Royal Albert Hall, well it then turned out that Pictures was on the card for that night !!!!
Hi,
A few weeks ago I was feeling stressed and generally in need of cheering up. Well i spent a few hours on ebay and visiting a local store beverly records. The point of this exercise was to purchase vinyl for my recent revival, however this vinyl was not purchsed with any view to the musical quality it was strictly purchased on emotion and memories of teenage days playing records on a cheap old record player.
I'm coming from an engineering/production realm but actually know little about the brands of receivers and speakers for home entertainment.
I live in an apartment so space is kind of an issue. I'm thinking bookshelf speakers or slimmer standing. Basically this set up will be used from everything. Movies, music listening from vinyl and cds, games, etc. Price is flexible but definitely on the budget side. I'm thinking around $400 for the reciever and $600-$800 for speakers. I have a TT, cd player, dvd player etc. and I'll need to get cabling, but I can figure that out.
I believe ST reviewed the Boulder 1060 in the Nov 2000 issue. Unfortunately I had to give away all my Stereophile back issues in conjunction with an international house move and the Back Issues service only seems to go back to Jan 2005. Is there any way to get hold of that issue, or even just a copy of that review?
Hi! I just bought a pair of Martin Logan Fresco i and a Dynamo subwoofer. I am planning on using them for a home theater with a Pioneer 50 inch plasma. I also have a Marantz 9600DVD player. Do I need to have a separate amp and receiver? Anybody can recommend me an integrated that will help me run the speakers and subwoofer? Any comments? THANKS!!!!!
So I stopped by Kinokuniya (a Japanese equivalent of Barnes & Noble) near the NYPL, to kill some time. Went to the magazine rack and saw what is perhaps the most gorgeous looking stereo mag anywhere. It's a quarterly, so it's THICK. But as can be expected from a Japanese aesthetic, the magazine looked impressive, with lots of great pics. Some of the most droolworthy audio-porn I've ever seen in my life.
