I recently was given a Kenda 12" children's bicycle inner tube by a local dealer to try under my Rega turntable. I took it home, thinking at the time it was a lot of high-end audiophile dealer hoo-ha, but when I tried it, I found that was quite an improvement in the sound of my system. When placed directly under a turntable, the improvement is better transparency and inner detail, more defined bass, improved "air" and spaciousness, and overall, a more natural presentation of the music...more "musical" as it were.
I basically understand the pros/cons of non-compressed, lossy, lossless. For iTunes purposes, with just ONE household computer (iMac) serving 4 iPods of various capacities (1 g, 4g, 20g, 60g), my compromise has been ripping to 320kbps MP3. Any higher than that really compromises the library sizes as carried by the iPod users. Also concerned (rightfully?) about cross-platform usage as follows...
Has anyone tried this armwand replacement for VPI cleaners?

Reader William King notices that Saturday evening has its own musical demands: "I play my most 'up' party music Saturday night and wonder what other readers favor for this time of the week? I'd like to know what is your favorite Saturday night record?"
i've had my first "hi fi-ish" system for about a year and a half...been really enjoying it...
would obviously like to get some better components, but from now on it will probably have to be upgrading one piece at a time...anyway here's my system:
Cambridge Azur 540A amp
Cambridge 540P phono stage
Rega P1 turntable (upgraded with glass platter and Denon DL-160 cartridge)
NAD 5220 CD Player (really old model, 89-ish, got off craigslist for $30)
EPOS Els-3 minimonitors
so that stray forumites dont wonder in and get highly offended
