Mark Levinson No. 532

Forums

Hello !! I was wondering if anyone has auditioned this amp. Looked for reviews on line but couldn't find any, except some from China and Korea.
I am thinking about partnering this amp with the new ARC CD5, how woluld you describe its sound? Darker than the No. 436? More analytical? Is ML stirring away from their house sound? I also heard wonderful things about their new No. 512 CD/SACD player, but I'm so infatuated with the analog-like sound of the ARC CD5 that I don't see myself changing it.

Jazz With a Big Sound!

Forums

Hey all, I've been listening to Blue Note Record's "Blue Not Plays The Beatles" and was wondering if anyone could recommend some music similar to Buddy Rich's recording of "Norwegian Wood"? It's a great uptempo recording of the Beatles' original with a great big brass band sound and a swing tempo. Thing is, its still jazz without really crossing over into that "sock hop swing" stuff. If anyone could help me find some stuff like this, I'd be really grateful!

Thanks in advance,

Using (ECG) Electronic Crossover Gain Testing

Hi I'm new to the forum.
I'm a long time subscriber to the magazine , , , also a very long time advocate of what has been termed the 'high end.' As a former aerospace engineering scientist I've had the capability to usually build better audio equipment than I could afford to purchase. In doing so I boned up on on my acoustical studies to better understand the relationship between sound generation and psychoacoustics.

Exposure 2010s

Forums

Hey I was just wondering if anyone owns or has spent time listening to the Exposure 2010s. If so, what are your feelings about it and what speakers/components are you using with it?

I am considering purchasing it to use with my Monitor Audio RS6 speakers. Obviously I will audition before I buy, but I just wanted to hear how others felt about it.

Thanks, DC

I was having breakfast in my hotel room on December 13, 2008, finally getting down to preparing the presentation I was to give at the Los Angeles and Orange County Audio Society scant hours later (footnote 1). I procrastinated a little more by checking my e-mail one more time. The message from Ivor Humphreys, once my deputy editor at the UK's Hi-Fi News & Record Review magazine (now just plain Hi-Fi News), and for many years technical editor at Gramophone magazine, was typically terse: "John Crabbe has died. He had a fall on the wintry ice a few days ago and broke an arm. He died at home yesterday. He was 79."
