Sony new SACD player

The "pre-review" of the Sony XA5400se was good, but has also added a bit to the confusion that exists in the web.
1. There is much discussion about using this as a transport via its HDMI. Hard to think who wants to pay 1500$ for a transport, but if this is the case, then please be precise and methodic on what kind of digital data can be exported via HDMI (with what DRM) and what via the other digital outputs (does CD output mean 16 bit?).

Small Single Driver Speakers - Help

Forums

I own and completely enjoy the 47 Labs Lens speaker. I'm designing a couple of systems for different rooms, but 47 Labs doesn't make the Lens anymore.

Please help me find a speaker that:

1. Sounds like the Lens.

2. Roughly the same size of a small monitor. I will place them on stands, but I'm open to floor-standers, if they are a small footprint. (Like the Totem Arro.)

Silver Rocket

Silver Rocket

I'm telling you: Matador's <a href="http://blog.stereophile.com/stephenmejias/buy_early_get_now_sonic_youth… Early Get Now plan is the gift that keeps on giving. First of all, I've been streaming The Eternal every day for the last couple of weeks. It's great. Then, with the pre-sale ticket offer, I scooped up four seats (Orchestra, Row C) for Sonic Youth's July 3 performance at the United Palace Theater in Manhattan. Now, I'm freaking out to this shredding, blazing train wreck of "Silver Rocket" from last year's Fourth of July River to River Festival held at Battery Park. I wasn't there.

Just about to take the plunge!

On a pair of B&W 802D speakers paired with Classe CDP 202, CP 500 and CA 2200 CD player, pre amp and amp, together with Chord cable - looks and sounds great...my only slight disappointment is with the definition of bass response but it's a minor grip. Amongst those of you with more experience of such equipment, does this make sense? Am I doing something obviously stupid? Are there any tweaks of components or cables I ought to consider to get the best out of such a ssystem please? Any advice gratefully received.

The Carver Challenge

Thanks for posting this 1985 article to your website. I bought a Carver m1.0t amp in 1986 (without ever having seen a copy of Stereophile) and it has served me well ever since, with one repair and adjustment to factory specs (total repair cost was $200 in 2006) needed in all of that time. It's certainly not The Best Amp In The World, but it has produced clean, powerful sound and was a good value for the money, especially considering its exemplary reliability.

A Fool for Everyone

A Fool for Everyone

Though he, like many others, moved to New York City as soon as he could, Mike Bones is from New Jersey. Bloomfield, or Belleville, or maybe Bayonne. Somewhere around there&#151somewhere not far from a good view of the Manhattan skyline. You can hear it in his lyrics. Only a boy from New Jersey could write and sing a song called "Today the World Is Worthy of My Loathing."
