A tweak that works with some objective evidence

Some months ago I posted on a thread about putting Herbies Gliders underneath my speakers. These gliders actually decouple the speakers from the floor rather than couple them.
But I have wood floors on pier and beam built in 1938 and the floors are a little spongy.

The 8 gliders were under 120.00.

The results were actually quite significant. The bass was much tighter, better defined but not overpowering. The mids much clearer and the imaging kinda jawdroppingly improved. I quickly saw I didn't need more bass traps after all.

Looking for some advice to choosing a subwoofer

Hello all,
little background..
mains B&W 602's
Yamaha reciever that is 10 yrs old,
and a denon dvd player and ps3

I use my set-up for 90% music and 10% movies.
I listen to my music LOUD... I want this sub to give a beating and take a beating. This is a give/take relationship. However I am in a budget...

I have a b&w asw650 that is currently broken down for the 2nd time now. This is really frustrating as I would think if you buy quality equipment it should last. Well apparently the amps go out on those things. I loved it when it worked tho.
