Upgrading from Sennheiser HD280 to HD595 or HD650

Total Newbie here, I currently listen to a Sennheiser HD280 headphones through a Yamaha RX-V1200 A/V receiver. Will I see any improvements with HD595 or HD650? I play mostly mp3s around 320kps. (I know. I know. Not audiophile quality, but that's what I have to work with)

All the reviews on the HD650 says that I need a DAC or headphone amp to get the most of the HD650. Does this apply for the HD595?

Can my Yamaha RX-V1200 receiver work as a suitable amp for the HD650 or HD595?

Help me build a budget system!

Hi! I'm just starting out my hi fi journey and would love some advice from some experienced audio nerds. :)

Here is a little background. I have a surround sound system, Mission M71i mains, smaller missions in the back, mission sub, powered by a Yamaha RX-V440 receiver. I have no problems with it for movies but I want a dedicated 2 ch. system in a separate room strictly for music.

possibly upgrading turntable

Hi all,

Bit of a noob in the world of high-end analog. I've been running a Rega P1 with a Sumiko Blue Point cartridge for a little under a year now. I've been happy with the sound. However, my cartridge has ended up with a bent cantilever somehow (thinking roomate/friend, but who knows), and won't track to the inner grooves of a side.

Using Design of Experiments for integration of Subs into Main speaker systems (For JA in particular)

As some, or most of you know, I'm a scientist by profession. As JA also has an engineering background, I thought I would post my experiences with using Design of Experiments as a way to assess integration of subwoofers into a "mains" system.
