Silver Jews and Pink Floyds

Dear readers,

I've already totally blogged myself out today, but here's this poem that I just found, and fell in love with.

Is it okay to fall in love with a poem that you've only just met?

Yes, I think it's okay.

The poem is by David Berman of the Silver Jews. I found it while looking for an answer to Jim Tavegia's question, "Just exactly how challenged are we when we name music groups Silver Jews?"

"Silver Jews" never struck me as a particularly strange, or uninspired, band name — and I think Jim was only half-serious — but I figured I'd try to find a good answer for him anyway. Jim goes on to cite his age (58) as a possible reason for not being able to relate. But band names, it seems to me, have often been pretty odd. I mean, what the heck is a Pink Floyd?

In any case, I didn't find a good answer for Jim, but I did find a poem.

Love you,
Stephen
