Avantgarde Acoustic provided a close look at its latest offerings, including a new compact subwoofer, the Twin Sub (price not yet announced).
The company explained that the sub expands Avantgarde's subwoofer lineup with a more compact, easier-to-integrate option. The new product was designed to offer the Trio G3's full-range impact in a more compact form, as it's easier to integrate than the company's larger SpaceHorn subwoofer.
A Clearaudio Reference Jubilee turntable ($21,500), fitted with a Unity tonearm ($16,300) and a Goldfinger MC cartridge (about $17,500), fed an Avantgarde prototype phono stage. A Wadax Studio Player ($44,000) handled digital playback. A legacy Avantgarde XA preamplifier was paired with the Avantgarde Acoustic iTRON Class A amplifier ($50,500, all prices approximate when converted from Euros), driving the Avantgarde Acoustic Trio G3 Satellite speakers ($103,000/pair). The electronics were connected using Avantgarde Acoustic G3 Int Silver cabling (prices not specified).
This large-scale rig delivered nimble, deep bass alongside pinpoint imaging. With vinyl by Tommy Schneider, Shelly Manne, and Mark Gillespie, the system impressed with speed, clarity, and an engaging sense of presence.
