I was right. One Saturday morning I walked from my apartment,…

I could nitpick other aspects of the Snells' performance, I suppose, including a peculiarly narrow midrange suckout that might have been due to woofer surrounds in need of running-in, and a pervasive graininess in…
The 12 most questionable Grammy Awards of the past quarter-century, from the merely ponderous to the thunderously stupefying:
1) Alan Menken and Tim Rice, Song of the Year, 1993: "A Whole New World"
2) Amy Winehouse, Song of the Year, 2007: "Rehab"
3) Eric Clapton, Record of the Year, 1996: "Change the World"
4) Celine Dion, Record of the Year, 1998: "My Heart Will Go On"
5) Joe Jackson, Best Pop Instrumental Album, 2000: Symphony No.1
6) Alanis Morissette, Best Rock Album, 1995: Jagged Little Pill

Initially, I connected the RTi A3s to my NAD C316 BEE integrated amplifier ($380) using the Kimber 8VS speaker cable. Source components were my Rega P3-24 turntable ($1295, discontinued) and my NAD C515 BEE CD player ($300). When playing vinyl, I used the outstanding Parasound ZphonoUSB phono preamplifier ($349). All interconnects were Kimber's PBJ.
I spent some time experimenting with speaker placement, but found that the Polks performed best when placed exactly where the PSBs had been: about 8' from my listening position, 30" from the sidewalls, and 42…
I subjected the RTi A3 to my usual test regime. I used DRA Labs' MLSSA system and a calibrated DPA 4006 microphone to measure the speaker's frequency response in the farfield, and an Earthworks QTC-40 for the nearfield responses. I estimated the Polk's voltage sensitivity at 89.3dB(B)/2.83V/m, which is both high and a little higher than the specified 89dB. This speaker will play loudly with relatively low-powered amplifiers. Fig.1 shows the RTi A3's electrical impedance and phase, plotted against frequency. The impedance drops just below 4 ohms in the lower…
