One of my favorite parts of attending <I>Stereophile</I>'s Home Entertainment shows&mdash;aside from seeking out the sexy new gear and pressing the flesh of readers&mdash;is the "Ask the Editors" panel discussions. What begins as a Q&A session usually turns into a free-for-all, as the outspoken and opinionated likes of Sam Tellig, Michael Fremer, Ken Kessler, and John Marks barely give room for wallflowers such as Art Dudley and yours truly to express our opinions&mdash;except when editor John Atkinson asks each of us, in turn, to cast our votes for the "most interesting rooms to visit." At both the HE2004 and HE2005 "Ask the Editors" panels, one company was recommended by a number of <I>Stereophile</I> writers, me included: Almarro Products.

Infinity QLS-50

Forums

I recently inherited a pair of Infinity QLS-50s from my uncle-in-law, who had them in the same place in his living room since he bought them new in the late '70s. They are each about 5 feet tall and weigh about 200 lbs.

My wife won't let them in the house. I'm a novice, but is there a market for these? If so, how much do they run? Thanks!!

Windows Media Player

I have not seen much reference to Windows Media Player in this forum. I use WMP to rip CDs to WMA lossless for playback through an external Soundblaster Audigy 2 NX connected to my laptop (via USB 2.0) and Yamaha amp/Cambridge Soundworks speakers. In adition to using WMP for ripping, I also use it as my player. I like the convenience and flexibility of the "media server" concept as opposed to loading CDs in a changer and pushing many buttons to program tracks.

Anyway, is there an inherent dislike for WMP? What are the issues? Is there something I could be doing better?

Question for the experts

Forums

I want to find some music that I have listened to and unfortunately the information I have is sketchy. One thing I do know is that the album was released before 1983, on vinyl. I don't know if it was released on CD. The primary music is xylophone and chorus. It sounds like a chorus of all or mostly women. There are a couple of rock-ish pieces on the disk similar but not exactly like what you'd expect from Mannheim Steamroller. One piece in particular I remember they were singing either in a foreign language or nonsense. Very upbeat cheerful sounding stuff.
