At $2295, the CD31 is the most expensive integrated CD player from Swedish manufacturer Primare, and an evolution of their D30.2, which I reviewed</A> in the June 2004 Stereophile. I knew that the CD31 wasn't a clean-sheet design, but my first look suggested that it wasn't even much of an evolution—a comparison of its and the D30.2's spec sheets matched almost line for line. When I asked Terry Medalen of Sumiko, Primare's US distributor, about the similarity, and if the CD31 was just a mild tweaking of the D30.2, he said, "Well, yes and no. You really need to listen to it."

Every two or three years my family and I travel to Disney World in Orlando, Florida—one of those places I used to think I'd hate, but which I always enjoy in spite of myself. No such trip would be complete without visiting the Mitsukoshi department store at Epcot Center, which represents the pinnacle of Japanese consumer culture. At the Epcot Mitsukoshi store—the 430-year-old company's only US location—one can buy the finest of everything, including the rarest and most expensive writing papers and inks, the most exquisitely crafted pottery, and the loveliest freshwater pearls on Earth. Young shoppers are accommodated with the latest toys, trends, and technology—but there's nothing frantic or cheap about the manner in which they're offered. The watchword at Mitsukoshi is quality, and the presentation borders on being artistic.

Pioneer A-35R - oddity

Forums

A question about a Pioneer A-35R. Apologies if this is dumb. Won it at an auction and it's been great. Problem though (I think). And I have no user manual

The thing cuts off with B speakers on. Old NAD receiver never did this. The B speakers are outdoor speakers.

I tried again with just the B speakers (rather than A and B). Now it cut off and upon turning on again I have all the lights flashing (the component lights ..tuner, cd, phono, etc. Basically it's like it's not working.

Subwoofer with Revel Ultima Salons

I have a pair of Revel Ultima Salons and a Gryphon Tabu Century Amp. For music I have been lent a REL Storm III. My room is 6m x 6m x 3m High. The Revels sound great but I need to wind the REL up to the 2 o'clock position (Hi Level) to hear/feel it. The REL has been wired in parallel on the speaker outs of the Gryphon. Do I need a Sub with a bigger driver to match the REVEL?

Paradigm Signature V2's have finally arrived

S2's and C3 finally came in. I will provide a review as soon as they are broken in.

Immediate audible difference is the V2's are not as efficient as the V1's so at the same volume level, the V2's do not play as loud. Appearance wise, like the V1's, they are a beautiful/classy looking speaker, although I almost prefer the look of the exposed tweeters on the V1's better, but like the fact that the V2's tweeter are covered making them less vulnerable. I prefer the look of the aluminum midrange/bass driver over the previous version, however, at a distance they look very similar.
