Have you ever noted "unit to unit" variation?

No, this is not a Minneapolis Airport question.

After reading decade of reviews and "listened around" alot, I'm starting to have my own theory about Hi Fi gear that may get me flamed, but here goes...

Wine is also a hobby of mine, and there is a definite "bottle to bottle" variation that can occur. Bottles from different barrels maybe, or with cork from different trees, one bottle got left on the store rack in the light while the other stayed lower in the dark, one bottle was exposed to different temperatures, etc...

Amp: no sound, not even through headphones

hello - i have a sony surround sound DVD system w/surround sound speakers for this DVD player - TV connected. i just purchased a Sony CD player and a Sony STR-AV770X Receiver/Amp Manual, and i have a Stanton turntable.

i only have the surround speakers that belong to the DVD player so i hooked up everything this way:

Turntable into Amp (Phono In)
CD Player into Amp (CD In)
Amp out (using Graphic Equalizer Adaptors Out) to DVD Player (Satellite Input - In)

Kind of a technical question...

Hi,

I was talking with an electrician buddy today about induction and the creation of current, and it left me a question I haven't found an answer for yet.

If you pass a magnet over another magnet, does it always create some level of electrical current at some small level?

Would any two magnets moving relative to each other make them a rotating transformer, even for only a moment?

Krell KID & Slim Devices Transporter

Does anyone know enough about the Krell KID to say how it will compare to the S.D. Transporter?
I have a 20GB iPod, and have transfered 510 songs, so far, from redbook cd's to my Apple iTunes server? I'm looking at my options for using my iPod to act as my music source, so I can have a 'high-end, music jukebox'. From what I've read, the Transporter seems to be pretty hard to beat. I'm not sure what the Krell can do in comparison, in terms of sound quality.
